Institute for Global Human Flourishing
The world needs Baylor to advance a vision of Human Flourishing that is evidence-based, practical, faith-animated, and inspirational. We are uniquely positioned to serve as a catalyst for transformative impact on individuals and communities.
Leveraging knowledge and understanding gained from the Global Flourishing Study research along with world-class methodology and tools being created, the Institute will bring Human Flourishing to life at Baylor University, as well as extending its reach and impact to the community, the country, and the world.
The Global Flourishing Study unites scholars and institutions worldwide to explore what it means to flourish. This interdisciplinary initiative examines well-being across cultures and life experiences, providing insights into the factors that drive human flourishing. Through collaboration, the study aims to inform policies and practices that promote global well-being.
The Institute for Global Human Flourishing is proud to partner with academic leaders in GFS research, interdisciplinary research, and human flourishing collaboration, including the Global Flourishing Study, The Human Flourishing Program at Harvard's Institute for Quantitative Social Science, and the Center for Open Science.
Our research explores what it truly means to flourish by asking participants about the key areas that shape well-being—health, relationships, purpose, spirituality, and resilience. By gathering insights from diverse experiences, we aim to uncover how these factors contribute to flourishing across the globe.
In some ways, I see this as Baylor’s gift to the world, to look at human flourishing. This is a gift that keeps on giving. If we can help figure out what makes people flourish or what hinders them from flourishing, maybe we will become more thoughtful as a society. There’s no better place than Baylor to lead a project that will touch so many different aspects of our lives.
